Environmental, geospatial and climate-related data are central to better understand issues and trends on how our planet and its climate are changing and to address the role humans play in these changes. The increasingly pivotal role of data in Europe’s green transformation has led to the development of the Green Deal Data Space (GDDS), as one of the common European Data Spaces.
Common European Data Spaces are at the heart of the European Digital Strategy. These innovative infrastructures aim to make more data available for access, exchange and reuse within a trustworthy and secure environment, benefiting European businesses and citizens. Data Spaces aim unlock the vast potential of data to drive interconnected and competitive innovation across Europe.
Over three years, four European Horizon Europe projects—AD4GD, FAIRiCUBE, USAGE, and B-Cubed—have been deploying digital technologies to implement the data spaces strategy in the environmental, biodiversity and climate domains.
This public event brings together researchers, policymakers, and technical experts to:
- Demonstrate innovative tools for data interoperability and governance;
- Share lessons learnt across project implementations;
- Launch a joint Policy Brief to inform future developments of the Green Deal Data Space in Europe.
The agenda features hands-on demos, expert panels, and high-level presentations from leaders in the Green Deal Data Space implementation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Who should attend this event?
If you are involved in any capacity in the development of the Green Deal Data Space—whether from a political, scientific, or technical perspective—this event is for you. You might also be interested if you work with innovative digital solutions for adaptation and remediation related to the environment, biodiversity, pollution, cities, etc. Also, if you are interested in data spaces in general. We will feature live demonstrations, panel discussions on the future of the GDDS, and, most importantly, opportunities to connect with experts who have spent the past three years developing tools and governance models based on data spaces to support the Green Deal’s goals.
Can I come and go during the event to also attend the ESA Living Planet Symposium?
Absolutely! You’re free to join and leave our event as many times as you like, especially if you’re also attending the ESA Living Planet Symposium. We’ve designed the event so you can attend the sessions that interest you most without missing (almost) anything from the ESA Living Planet Symposium.
Do I need to register if I'm only attending for a few hours?
Yes, please! Even if you only plan to attend a few hours or specific sessions of our event, we kindly ask you to register. This helps us know we can count on your participation for at least some of the presentations, demonstrations, and discussions. It’s also important for us to be able to contact you in case you need any support or assistance before, during, or after the event. By registering, we’ll be able to get in touch with you. Will there be food and drinks during coffee breaks and lunch?
We provide everything. Once you’re registered for the event, coffee breaks and meals are covered. In fact, we’re preparing an interactive activity that will offer both food for thought and food for the belly at the same time during the Lunch Break.
Can I take home a copy of the Policy Brief?
Absolutely! Don’t miss the joint Policy Brief presentation by the sister projects in the final session on the 25th June, right before lunch. And be sure to grab a copy!
