The AGILE organizes the second webinar with the topic "USAGE – Urban Data Spaces for the Green Deal".
Cities are at the frontline of climate change, yet effective decision-making remains challenged by fragmented, inaccessible, and underutilized data. This webinar presents insights from the USAGE (Urban Data Space for Green Deal) project, which explores how urban data spaces can support evidence-based, transparent, and inclusive decision-making for sustainable urban policies.
Drawing on experiences from the pilot cities including Leuven, Zaragoza, Ferrara, and Graz, the webinar highlights how data spaces function not only as technical infrastructures but as systems that connect data-driven governance with real urban contexts. USAGE demonstrates how city-level environmental and climate data from Earth observation, IoT, authoritative, and crowdsourced sources can be transformed into FAIR, interoperable urban data spaces that support evidence-based decision-making through geospatial and AI-enabled analytics and innovative governance models.
Overall, the webinar positions USAGE as a step towards a decentralized, trustworthy urban data infrastructure, supporting European Green Deal priorities and enabling cities to combine heterogeneous data sources for informed policy analysis and sustainable urban transformation..
The webinar will be conducted by Naomi Thiru, a Geospatial Data Expert working as a research associate at the Spatial Application Division(SADL) unit in KU Leuven Belgium. Her work spans across geospatial data science and GeoICT, combining technical and analytical capabilities with experience in managing spatial data
